About the Guide

Welcome to Mizen Head Online Guide website

This website is the culmination of a project that takes stock of the vast volume of information, archive documentation and photographs accumulated by Mizen Tourism Co-operative Society Ltd. over the years, curates it, and makes it available to the public online.

We've arranged the bulk of this information according to the physical display items you'll find in the three different zones as part of the Mizen Head Experience.

• Above: The area above the coastal paths and the bridge, including Mizen Head Visitor Centre, Mizen Cafe, Mizen Shop and surrounds.
• Along the Way: The coastal paths between the Visitor Centre and Mizen Head Signal Station and the Bridge itself.
• Below: Mizen Head Signal Station and Viewpoint

Each of the above Zones is associated with a series of Locations, and each location features a number of Display Items. You can jump into a particular zone and start exploring by clicking through from the links on the homepage, using the navigation in the main menu or clicking the zone name in the heading above.

Display Item Entries include images, descriptions and, where relevant, information about contributors, links to relevant resources on this site and external sites and, for some displays, downloadable documents in various formats with additional information and background.

Archives

The Guide also features an archive section, with documents and other content not associated with specific display items, but that are an important part of the Mizen Story.

Archive items are typically collections of downloadable PDF and other documents, but may also include image galleries and other content.

A growing online resource

At launch there's already a lot of content available through the Mizen Guide that was previously inaccessible to anyone unable to visit The Mizen in person. There is more content to come, and we'll both refine existing display items and add new content to the Archives over the coming months.
