Buoy Bridle, Shackle and different types of chain
These chains, bridles and shackles were used to keep a buoy in place at sea. There were three grades of chain used: 44mm Stud Chain, 42mm Open Chain and 32mm Open Chain.
Floating Bell Buoy
The Bell Buoy was placed on top of a float and had clappers fixed to the frame which hit the bell as it moved in the sea.
Buoys are much more sophisticated now. See https://www.irishlights.ie/safety-navigation/cil-aids-to-navigation.aspx
The two huts on the left were a paint store and workshop.
