This is an excellent introduction to the geology of Wes Cork from the Ordnance Survey Office.
The primary feature of the rocks at the Mizen is the folding and erosion of Old Devonian Sandstone, which has created the dramatic cliffs. The folding created anticlines and synclines, which have eroded . The geology diorama in the Mizen Hall has a full explanation of the geology at the Mizen. ( Ref AM10).
